The Release of RDR2 Edges Closer

Rockstar Games is most famous for their video game series, Grand Theft Auto, but when the original Red Dead Redemption was released, it was all fans had hoped for. Red Dead Redemption took Rockstar’s open world game play and threw it in the old west, creating an experience that was like Grand Theft Auto, but with all you would expect from an old West setting.

Red Dead Redemption 2 doesn’t release until October 28th, but Rockstar has not been stingy with previews and trailers. The game may not be coming for four more months, but on May 2nd, the third official trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 was released.

The new trailer began with a man giving orders and threatening to kill a group of individuals, setting the mood for the entire game. Red Dead Redemption is all about the end of the old West. Lawmen from all over the western part of the country are rounding up the few remaining outlaws.

The trailer features everything you would expect in a Red Dead Redemption trailer. There are horse chases, train robberies, and lots of shooting. Rockstar is doing everything they can do build hype for their newest game, but they could release it with no promotion and it will sell millions of copies.

The first Red Dead Redemption has transcended cult phenomenon and is hailed as one of the greatest games of all times. The 2nd edition of the series has a lot to live up to, and judging by this new trailer, it seems Rockstar has succeeded.

The trailer was immediately dissected by fans, receiving praise for the detail of the eyes and lighting.

Other fans were less excited about Rockstar’s continuation of the same theme. Red Dead Redemption was about the dying of old ways and transitioning into a new era, but Red Dead Redemption 2 also claims to be the end of an era. Rockstar was able to do this because Read Dead Redemption 2 is a prequel, taking place 12 years before the original.

You can view the entire trailer on Rockstar’s official website.
