E3 2016 is imminent and a lot of rumors are swirling about a big Nintendo announcement. The company is expected to debut a new hardware platform at this massive convention, but so far details are scant. Nintendo systems of late always have some kind of gimmick or feature that sets them apart from the other consoles, such as the Wii controllers.
One thing that is known is the name of the new system. It will be called Nintendo NX. A number of sources are claiming that the console may work in conjunction with a mobile gaming device that will allow gamers to play through the same game on the same save file whether at home or on the road.
Uploadvr has reported that Zockrates Laboratories may be getting ready to work on a virtual reality game for the Nintendo NX. The game is called Riverside and it allows players to alter the world around them. It is also in development for the Oculus Rift, which seems to be a dead giveaway.
Satoru Iwata, president of Nintendo, has said that the console will involve a “brand-new concept.” Many believe that Nintendo is going to steer away from handheld devices as phones and tablets have more or less the need for a separate mobile gaming unit.
The release date for the Nintendo NX is set for March 2017. It won’t be long until the world finds out if this will end up like the successful Wii or Nintendo’s poorest-selling console, the Wii U.
